Objectives

The memorandum of SAG mentioned that it will promote and develop Sports activities in accordance with the Sports policy of the state and Govt. of India. From the current activities of the SAG following two objectives emerge: -

• Popularising culture of sports
  The SAG has a set of activities that is aimed at creating interest and opportunities of participation in different games in various, including, rural areas. This is in the nature of outreach services.
   

• Promotion of excellence
  This is done through a set of activities aimed at identifying and nurturing talent. We identify competition material and improve their standard by offering special coaching, sports equipment and infrastructural facilities. Potential medal winners are identified through a process of elimination in a variety of competitions, formal and informal and putting them through intensive coaching.
  
  Both of these objectives are complementary. The first objective is aimed at crating an environment for sports culture. The second objective focuses on producing medal winners for the State through intensive efforts.
