Management
Structure of SAG
TThe SAG has a
33 - member General Body, which is headed by
the Minister of Sports, Youth & Cultural
Activities. This body includes five
Collectors to be appointed by rotation,
three sports promoters (at least one woman
among them), three sport persons (inclusive
of at least one woman) and various
government functionaries that include Health
Commissioner, Industries Commissioner,
Director of Schools etc.
The main policy making organ of the SAG is
the Governing Body of 7 members headed by
the Minister of State of Sports, Youth and
Cultural Activities. Besides, there are
committees such as Corpus Fund Committee and
Purchase Committee which assist the SAG in
its functioning. Recently Shri Arun Pandya,
a retired IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh
who has rich experience in sports
administration has been appointed as the
Honorary Adviser to the SAG. Similarly, Shri
Ashok Patel, ex-Test Cricket Player has been
attached to SAG as Honorary Cricket Coach.

The Governing
Body has met twice so far and has taken many
important policy decisions regarding the
structure and management of SAG.
The chief executive officer of the SAG is
the Director General who is generally
deputed by the state government. The
day-to-day activities are managed by SAG’s
corporate office and its field units. The
Secretary of the SAG is the next important
position required by the Societies
Registration Act. The following
organisational chart graphically describes
the hierarchical management structure of the
SAG.

Further

may be seen at Appendix 1 and 2. The
Corporate Office is located in Block Number
14 of the Dr Jivraj Mehta Bhavan in
Gandhinagar. Besides the D.G. and the
Secretary who oversee day-to-day functioning
of the SAG, the Corporate Office has one
Deputy Director, one Assistant Director, one
Chief Coach, one Officer on Special Duty,
one Accounts Officer and one Administrative
officer and the supporting staff. There are
nine data executives attached to different
branches and who also make up the
Information Technology Resource Team of the
SAG.
The field structure of SAG consists of 22
District Sports Coaching Centres (3 more DSCCs proposed), 11 District Sports
Complexes proposed and 3 sports hostels.
